There has been official release of advance warning from 'Deutschland Radio' that on 31 December 2014 all of the Longwave stations at 'Donebach' 153 kHz, 'Sehlendorf' - 'Oranienburg' 177 kHz and 'Aholming' 207 kHz will close.
Much discussion has already taken place about possibilities that this might free 'Saarlouis'- 'Felsberg' to at last move from 183 kHz onto a standard slot (180 kHz or possibly 261 kHz).
The announcement also gave warning that on 31 December 2015 there will be closure of the 6 'Deutschlandfunk' MW stations. There has been a promise to build 110 new DAB+ stations to cover the gap. I cannot see those transmitters helping seamen who rely on 1268 'Neumünster'.

Carrier frequencies on the longwave band are assigned as integer multiples of nine kHz ranging from 153 to 279 kHz. However, the Europe 1 transmitter's frequency, 183 kHz, is offset from the usual nine kHz multiples established under the Geneva Plan. This is to minimise interference with a transmitter in Oranienburg, which broadcasts Deutschlandradio Kultur on 177 kHz. Europe 1 and Deutschlandradio Kultur straddle the standard 180 kHz frequency which would normally be assigned to one or the other under the Geneva Plan.
After initial problems in finding a clear frequency - first began to transmit on 239.5 kHz - was sent to 182 kHz from 01.04.1955. Starting in 1959 were interference with the transmitter Oranienburg in the German Democratic Republic on 185 kHz. Beginning of 1970 was therefore changed to 180 kHz. Only in 1975 was awarded the official approval of the transmitter frequency from the International Telecommunication Authority. After the entry into force of the Geneva wave plan in 1978 was initially changed to the approved nominal frequency of 182 kHz. Because of the strong interference with the transmitter Zehlendorf-Oranienburg (voice of DDR) changed both stations but on 15th December 1980 their frequency by 3 kHz: Zehlendorf-Oranienburg to 179 kHz and "Europe 1" to 185 kHz.
